The Role

Mach Energetics is seeking a Structural Engineer focused on design and stress analysis for next-generation aerospace and defense systems. In this role, you will support the conceptual and preliminary structural development of high-performance vehicles and energetic platforms by driving structural layouts, FEM modeling, load path development, and structural trade studies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop structural layouts and aeromechanical architectures for advanced aerospace and defense platforms.

  • Perform structural and mechanical analysis including load path development, stress analysis, vibration assessments, and structural sizing.

  • Build and analyze FEM models including mesh generation, boundary conditions, load cases, and design trade studies.

  • Support integration of aerodynamic, propulsion, and structural systems to ensure performance and structural integrity.

  • Evaluate metallic and composite structures under static, dynamic, and thermal loading environments.

  • Perform trade studies focused on stiffness, strength, mass optimization, manufacturability, and system integration.

  • Collaborate closely with propulsion, flight sciences, manufacturing, and systems engineering teams throughout vehicle development.

  • Participate in technical design reviews and communicate structural risks, margins, and performance assessments.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

  • 2–5+ years of experience in aerospace structural design and stress analysis.

  • Experience with FEM modeling and structural analysis tools for aerospace applications.

  • Strong understanding of structural mechanics, stress analysis, load paths, and material behavior.

  • Experience supporting aerospace conceptual or preliminary design efforts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with FEMAP, NASTRAN, or similar structural analysis software.

  • Experience with missile, UAS, propulsion, or high-speed aerospace systems.

  • Familiarity with metallic and composite aerospace structures.
