The Opportunity at Komodo Health

Komodo Health is entering the next phase of its journey and is looking to exponentially increase its impact on the US Healthcare system with Komodo Health’s best-in-class Healthcare Map™ and healthcare insights platforms and applications. The Government and Clinical Research team’s overall objective is to establish Komodo Health as the premier partner for government entities for healthcare insights and regulatory decision-making using real-world data.

The Director of Government and Clinical Research Data Product will be the first team leader at Komodo Health to operationalize government and research-grade data product development and deployment. This individual will lead the buildout of the data product-related infrastructure and team to serve government and regulatory clinical research customers.

Looking back on your first 12 months at Komodo Health, you will have accomplished…

  • Performed experimentation, data research, and deep analyses to understand the fitness of the Healthcare Map data for regulatory-grade use cases, and established requirements for strengthening the performance of the data for increasingly complex use cases
  • Led exploration to deeply understand our customers’ use cases and how Komodo is uniquely positioned to deliver government and regulatory-grade solutions
  • Led the approval of regulatory submission contracts through analysis of the Healthcare Map
  • Developed the vision and product strategy for government and regulatory product offerings and launched and iterated on one or more government or regulatory-specific products
  • Been a part of the team that established clear governance and processes for supporting high-impact clinical research by defining clear requirements, roles, and responsibilities for the entire organization for regulatory-grade clinical research
  • If successful, began building a team of data analysts evaluating the Healthcare Map’s fitness in addressing clinical research questions

You will accomplish these outcomes through the following responsibilities…

  • Developing government customer-oriented and regulatory, clinical research-grade data products and insights platforms and influencing the Data Product team’s roadmap
  • Ensuring Komodo Health’s data products meet the needs of customers seeking regulatory submissions and real-world data clinical research questions
  • Owning the execution of data product-related government contracts
  • Establishing cross-functional processes and guidance for the entire organization on supporting high-impact customer-led clinical research based on the Healthcare Map

What you bring to Komodo Health (required):

  • At least 8 years of experience in related areas related to clinical research and data analytics
  • Extensive experience refining and answering clinical research questions
  • Experience conducting analyses using one or more of the major commercially-available claims-based healthcare data products
  • Data fluency and comfort with data analysis tools, including SQL queries to conduct analysis
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, with ability to bring clarity to complexity and communicate customer needs, architectural requirements, and product goals across cross-functional teams
  • Executive presence and experience leading external customer meetings
  • Experience as a leader with proven ability to collaborate and influence others in a highly cross-matrixed environment
  • Experience in effectively building and leading a small team
  • Demonstration of success in ambiguous and fast-paced environments
  • Proven ability to assess capacity and prioritize based on short-term and long-term goals

Additional skills and experience we’d prioritize (nice to have)…

  • Experience in government agency-related work, including regulatory submissions
  • Prior experience as a product manager or product owner, with experience in a data-focused role at a B2B technology/software company
  • Ability to analyze complex situations, and develop multiple options/solutions with adherence to compliance/regulatory constraints
  • Comfort working with data scientists and engineers to define scope and data products
  • Understanding the various healthcare entities and third-party payment systems in the United States and how these entities and this system affect the claims data

Compensation at Komodo Health

The pay range for each job posting reflects a minimum and maximum range of pay that we reasonably expect to pay across all U.S. locations and may span more than one career level. We carefully consider multiple business-related factors when determining compensation, including job-related skills, work experience, geographic work location, relevant training and certifications, business needs and market demands.

The U.S. national starting annual base pay for this role is listed below. This position may be eligible for performance-based bonuses as determined in the Company’s sole discretion and in accordance with a written agreement or plan.
$188,000$262,000 USD

Where You’ll Work

Komodo Health has a hybrid work model; we recognize the power of choice and importance of flexibility for the well-being of both our company and our individual Dragons. Roles may be completely remote based anywhere in the country listed, remote but based in a specific region, or local (commuting distance) to one of our hubs in San Francisco, New York City, or Chicago with remote work options.
