About Etched

Etched is building AI chips that are hard-coded for individual model architectures. Our first product (Sohu) only supports transformers, but has an order of magnitude more throughput and lower latency than a B200. With Etched ASICs, you can build products that would be impossible with GPUs, like real-time video generation models and extremely deep & parallel chain-of-thought reasoning agents.

Job Summary

Etched is hiring a Manufacturing Operations Program Manager based in Taiwan to lead day-to-day execution at our L10 contract manufacturer. You will serve as the in-region lead responsible for ramping and sustaining production of our core AI hardware, including package assembly and server construction. You’ll work closely with Etched’s production engineering, planning, and supply chain teams to ensure quality, throughput, and readiness at every stage of the build.

This is a hands-on role with direct accountability for factory performance—ideal for someone who thrives in high-volume, precision-oriented environments and enjoys on-the-ground problem-solving.
Key responsibilities

  • Own manufacturing execution at our Taiwan-based tier 1 contract manufacturer for L10 production, setting direction for day-to-day factory operations while driving long-term scalability and efficiency

  • Oversee production performance across all stages (SMT, mechanical assembly, test), ensuring yield, quality, and output targets are consistently met or exceeded

  • Manage material readiness, WIP status, and production bottlenecks in collaboration with planning and SCM

  • Drive resolution of technical issues (DFx, yield, rework) with Etched and L10 engineering counterparts

  • Align on NPI builds, MP ramps, and change control procedures including ECOs and process updates

  • Ensure real-time visibility into build progress, deviations, and potential risks

  • Represent Etched in build reviews, supplier audits, and quality assessments

  • Facilitate clear and timely communication between Taiwan and Etched HQ in San Jose

  • Support long-term factory capability building including test infrastructure, automation, and scale planning

You may be a good fit if you have (Must-have qualifications)

  • 8+ years experience in semiconductor manufacturing operations, OPM, or supplier management roles

  • Strong familiarity with package/substrate assembly, probe, and final test flows

  • Track record of working closely with tier 1 CMs in Taiwan or Asia-based fabs

  • Ability to travel regularly to the L10 factory and manage execution in person

  • Excellent communication and bilingual proficiency (Mandarin and English preferred)

  • Skilled at managing escalations, coordinating across time zones, and enforcing timelines

Strong candidates may also have experience with (Nice-to-have qualifications)

  • Familiarity with AI ASIC or HBM package-level manufacturing

  • Prior experience with substrate vendors, test socket suppliers, or probe card coordination

  • Engineering background in electrical, mechanical, or packaging domains

  • Exposure to MP ramp planning or cost-of-yield improvement initiatives

Benefits

  • Full medical, dental, and vision packages, with generous premium coverage

How we’re different

Etched believes in the Bitter Lesson. We think most of the progress in the AI field has come from using more FLOPs to train and run models, and the best way to get more FLOPs is to build model-specific hardware. Larger and larger training runs encourage companies to consolidate around fewer model architectures, which creates a market for single-model ASICs.

We are a fully in-person team in San Jose and Taiwan, and greatly value engineering skills. We do not have boundaries between engineering and research, and we expect all of our technical staff to contribute to both as needed.
